eNewsletter March 2008

Dear Everyone,

Hi! And how are you all? It was a wonderful month of February mainly because of Chinese New Year. You did not need to have an excuse to be happy as the environment was one of joy and happiness all round, especially as I am staying in a mainly Chinese neighborhood. I had a really great time visiting all my Chinese friends and tucking in. I cannot remember the number of ‘Yee Sangs’ I had.  Strictly based on the number, I should have lots of good luck for this coming year!! The not so good part of February, was seeing Arsenal football club (my favorite football club) stuttering in the English Premier league. It was kind of depressing to see their 5 point lead at the top of the table, being cut down to only one. However, I am very, very confident that this is just a blip and that they will get back to their winning ways. After all they are still leading the table.

I received this cute picture of two wolves, but even better was the story behind it, which I would like to share with all of you.

An Old Cherokee Tale of Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, 'My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.'

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?'

The old Cherokee simply replied, 'The one you feed.'

This is such a lovely story: so simple and yet so true. I think each and every one of us has these two wolves running around inside us. The Evil wolf or the Good Wolf is fed daily by the choices we make with our thoughts. What you think about and dwell upon will in a sense appear in your life and influence your behavior. We have a choice, feed the Good Wolf and it will show up in our character, habits and behavior positively. Or feed the Evil Wolf and our whole world will turn negative: like poison, this will slowly eat away at our soul!
The crucial question is “Which are you feeding today”?

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I do hope I have made your day a little better with this newsletter. Until my next mail, please do take care and do share this with your friends. Have a great month ahead! On a fortnightly basis I will also send you all a thought of the day i.e. a quotation, wise saying or a parable, that will be motivational and thought provoking in nature. As the saying goes, “just as we feed ourselves with good food to stay healthy, we also have to feed our minds with good thoughts, to stay positive”.

If you feel that you like the newsletter, please feel free to forward or better still subscribe it to your friends. As Lao Tzu the ancient Chinese scholar said, “Sharing wisdom is one of the noblest things that a man can do”. Instructions are given below for the process.

For this maiden newsletter, I have attached an article by Brian Tracy entitled, ‘Finding a New Business Idea’. I think this is really useful from a personal and work viewpoint.

Happy reading and have a great week!!
